TROUT RODS

CF Burkheimer trout rods have been quietly taking over the quality trout waters the world over. Find an angler that quietly goes about his business, casts a beautiful line with accuracy and precision and has a grin on his face that stretches ear to ear, more than likely you'll find a Burkie in his hand.

Need’n to throw a #12 Green Drake or #16~18 Elk Hair in the riffle? That’s our 590-4. Out head hunting on the Henry’s Fork Ranch section? Present your trout offerings confidently with our 489-4 DAL nicknamed “The Ranch Rod”. Picky Bow’s selectively feeding on Midges, Micro Caddis, PMD’s in a Spring Creek or glass smooth back eddy? Look to the 389-4. There are a host of fishy challenges and situations out there, and we’ve got a rod for them all.

Our trout rods are light in the hand, and heavy in performance. If they don’t cast 15~20 feet with good feel and turnover, then rifle out an honest 70’+ they’re not a Burkheimer. We build rods that you’ll love to fish with, because that’s our passion and commitment to you and to the sport we are devoted to and love so much.

Our trout rods contain the most current State-of-the -Art technology. We refrain from using buzz-word marketing lingo to describe tapers or models. That’s not the Burkheimer way. Instead, we prefer to focus on designing and crafting exceptional fly rods—fly rods with that “Burkie feel” and performance.

Burkheimer trout rods are available in three distinct build styles; the only difference is hardware and cosmetics.  Whether you choose a Vintage, Presentation, or Classic, they all feature the same solid Burkheimer design and action. It starts with the blanks we design and roll in house. We build from there.

Our 4pc trout rods are available in two distinct actions:  the "Standard" and "Deep Action Load" (DAL). Each has a distinct action and feel to match your specific casting and fishing style.  Our standard actions are quick cycling and load smoothly off the tip.  They will handle big brawling western rivers and the conditions they entail.  They also handle small or big flies with ease. This action fits the angler that demands high line speed, intuitive performance and pin point accuracy giving you the advantage even in blustery conditions.

The DAL rods have become quite popular. Their deeper loading feel should not be confused with slow, loose or hard to manage actions. Our DAL’s offers a ton of feel (feedback), superior light tippet protection, while delivery trout food on target with minimal effort. More on the DAL’s below.

The Deep Action Load (DAL) series of rods were designed for angler’s who prefer a more relaxed and refined actions, and that love the feel and feedback of a fly rod as it loads deep and unloads quickly and predictably. These rods offer full deep flexing qualities and a fast recovery cycle. You want a gentle presentation while protecting light tippets with a #20 Midge or a #16 PMD ? This rod series will do it. How about deep nymphing with a stonefly or ripping a streamer through a log jam? These rods will do that too. DAL’s are highly versatile with a forgiving flex that still provides superior performance. Designed for fishing, not the parking lot shoot out, but if you know how to treat’m they’ll win those too!

STREAMER DELUXE FLY RODS

Designed to pound the banks with bulky flies using sinking or floating lines from a drifting boat or while wading the stream. These rods were developed with critical input from streamer geek Kelly Galloup, owner of the Slide Inn and the help from some of the best guides Montana rivers have to offer.  When it has to be light in hand, accurate in presentation, fast cycling and still have “feel”, employ one of these and you'll know the why. Streamers, heavy nymphs, or even bushy aerodynamically challenged dries, these rods get it done.  They have also garnered a following with the Bass aficionado.  They'll cast the kitchen sink and not kill you doing it.
